Low Level Laser therapy

The word Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. As the name suggests the laser that we use at Tower Wood is low energy and non-heating.
Light of a narrow spectral bandwidth is emitted as photons. Cells of the body absorb the photons and use the energy to help normalise cell metabolism.
The main actions of the laser are:
- Pain relief
- Reduction of inflammation
- Speeding up of tissue repair
- Stimulation of the immune system
- Stimulation of acupuncture points
The laser normally forms only part of a full treatment protocol and is used mainly for wound management, tendon, muscle and ligament injuries and in acupuncture.
